Everyday Meditation audio
CD - a mini-retreat to calm the mind and nourish the soul.
'EVERYDAY
MEDITATION' focuses on how the body feels by Laura Axelrod Learning
to meditate can be tricky, especially if you would like to avoid challenging
your beliefs. KRS Edstrom's CD "Everyday Meditation" is a nonsectarian
contemplative exercise to help people become more attuned to their bodies. Edstrom gently guides listeners to mentally scan each portion of their anatomy.
After noting how each region feels, the listener can imagine tightness or
discomfort dissipating. "Make sure to stay with the area long enough, that you can feel everything
about it. The idea is to feel each area fully so the sensation can complete
itself," she says.
Edstrom explains that running away from uncomfortable feelings can compel people
to engage in compulsive behavior. Avoiding these emotional and physical
sensations will only cause them to fester inside, she says.
Her voice, low and soothing, encourages listeners without lulling them to sleep.
The visualizations are simple, such as imagining a rolling pin going up and down
your arm. Most of the meditation consists of simply acknowledging what is
already within.
For people who would like to focus on becoming more aware of their bodies,
Edstrom's "Everyday Meditation" is a terrific resource.
Acknowledging what your body is trying to tell you is another way to monitor
your health. Order
